Joe's wife of 66 years, Gwen, is a policyholder who needs full-time nursing home care.

Linda Rubens speaks softly about the last two years of her mother's life.

"We took out the policy for her when she was 85. At the time, I thought that if she ever needed care, she could receive it in her own home. That was the plan, but it didn't work out that way. Her policy allowed her to move to an assisted living facility, which suited her needs at the time. Later she went to a nursing home for about a year before she died. Her policy gave her many options and she was well cared for."
